Numerical Methods for Nonlinear Elliptic Boundary Value Problems with Parameter Dependence
This thesis discusses numerical methods for nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations with parameter dependence such as the Gelfand-Bratu model and singularly perturbed convection-diffusion-reaction equations.

On anisotropy function in crystal growth simulations using Lattice Boltzmann equation
International audienceIn this paper, we present the ability of the Lattice Boltzmann (LB) equation, usually applied to simulate fluid flows, to simulate various shapes of crystals.

On counting problems in nonstandard models of Peano arithmetic with applications to groups
Coding devices in Peano arithmetic (PA) allow complicated finite objects such as groups to be encoded in a model \(M\) ╞ PA. We call such coded objects \(M\) -finite.

Improvements on "Fast Space-Variant Elliptical Filtering Using Box Splines"
It is well-known that box filters can be efficiently computed using pre-integration and local finite-differences. By generalizing this idea and by combining it with a nonstandard variant of the central limit theorem, we had earlier proposed a constant ...

Great Expectatrics: Great Papers, Great Journals, Great Econometrics [PDF]
The paper discusses alternative Research Assessment Measures (RAM), with an emphasis on the Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science database (hereafter ISI). The various ISI RAM that are calculated annually or updated daily are defined and analysed, including

Asymptotic inference for spatial cumulative distribution function
Random-field models with continuous spatial index are commonly used to model spatially and temporally dependent data in environmental studies. One quantity that captures the variation of a random field is the spatial cumulative distribution function ...

Continuum damage mechanics has been recognised as an important tool for the description of material degradation. The classical continuum theories have been found to be insufficient for the accurate representation of the phenomena described by continuum ...

Nonstandard finite difference schemes for differential equations
In this paper, the reorganization of the denominator of the discrete derivative and nonlocal approximation of nonlinear terms are used in the design of nonstandard finite difference schemes (NSFDs). Numerical examples confirming then efficiency of schemes, for some differential equations are provided.

Unit Root Testing in Heteroskedastic Panels using the Cauchy Estimator [PDF]
The so-called Cauchy estimator uses the sign as instrument for the first lag in autoregressions, and the resulting t-type statistic has a standard normal distribution even in the unit root case.
