Nonuniform Bertrand Competition

Econometrica, 1992
Summary: Using a standard model of nonuniform pricing, properties are derived for both free entry and limited entry Bertrand equilibrium in nonuniform strategies. These properties follow from the feasibility of Bertrand undercutting with nonuniform prices. When there is free entry, zero- profit minimum average cost production occurs in equilibrium. If,

Nonuniform Leaching from Nonuniform Steady Infiltration

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1984
Abstract The two‐dimensional quasilinear steady flow equation is solved exactly for arbitrary periodic distribution of surface source strength v 0 ( x ) ( x , horizontal ...

Nonuniform lung deformations

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1983
This review evaluates the progress that has been made in describing the lung as a deformable solid and in using the methods of solid mechanics to answer questions about nonuniform lung deformations and parenchymal interdependence. The interdependence effect on the large intrapulmonary vessels has been successfully analyzed by these methods, but the ...

Nonuniform Hyperbolicity

2007
Designed to work as a reference and as a supplement to an advanced course on dynamical systems, this book presents a self-contained and comprehensive account of modern smooth ergodic theory. Among other things, this provides a rigorous mathematical foundation for the phenomenon known as deterministic chaos - the appearance of 'chaotic' motions in pure ...

Nonuniformity

2000
Abstract In this chapter we will investigate the ILP/SLP effects seen with syntactically complex predicates. We will find that the effects seen in a matrix clause sometimes depend on the sort of predicate that appears in an embedded clause. We will also see the perceptual report diagnostic diverge from the others.

Lattices on Nonuniform Trees

Geometriae Dedicata, 2003
Let \(X\) be a locally finite tree, then \(G=\Aut(X)\) is a locally compact group with compact open vertex stabilizers \(G_x\), \(x\in VX\). We say \(X\) is a `uniform' tree, if \(G\setminus X\) is finite, otherwise \(X\) is a `non-uniform' tree. A subgroup \(\Gamma\subset G\) is `discrete' if \(\Gamma_x\) is finite for some, and hence every vertex \(x\

Nonuniform Coverage and Cartograms

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2009
In this paper, we investigate nonuniform coverage of a planar region by a network of autonomous, mobile agents. We derive centralized nonuniform coverage control laws from uniform coverage algorithms using cartograms, transformations that map nonuniform metrics to a near Euclidean metric. We also investigate time-varying coverage metrics and the design

Nonuniform field gel electrophoresis

Analytical Biochemistry, 1982
The potential use of a nonlinear voltage gradient to linearize the logarithmic distribution of bands, which results from gel electrophoresis of protein mixtures in a linear voltage gradient, was investigated. Equations are developed to describe the behavior of sodium dodecyl sulfate-protein complexes undergoing electrophoresis in straight-sided conical

Nonuniform Crowding Enhances Transport

ACS Nano, 2019
The cellular cytoplasm is crowded with macromolecules and other species that occupy up to 40% of the available volume. Previous studies have reported that for high crowder molecule concentrations, colloidal tracer particles have a dampened diffusion due to the higher solution viscosity.

Nonuniform sampling by quantiles

Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2018
A flexible strategy for choosing samples nonuniformly from a Nyquist grid using the concept of statistical quantiles is presented for broad classes of NMR experimentation. Quantile-directed scheduling is intuitive and flexible for any weighting function, promotes reproducibility and seed independence, and is generalizable to multiple dimensions.
