Apical closure of nonvital teeth
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1971Abstract A study was undertaken to demonstrate the apical development that occurs following debridement and filling of the root canal with a calcium hydroxide—camphorated parachlorophenol paste. Microscopic sections indicated that treatment of the teeth had stimulated the formation of granulation tissue to repair the bone destruction and soft-tissue ...

Retention of posts in teeth with nonvital pulps
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1983The results of this study indicate that: 1. Cast posts without grooves are more retentive when cemented with zinc phosphate than with composite resin. 2. Cast posts with grooves in the posts and adjacent grooves in the teeth are more retentive than cast posts without grooves. 3.

Apexification in a Nonvital Tooth by Control of Infection
The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1980Incomplete formation of roots in permanent dentition because of death of the pulps is fairly common. Various pastes are used in apexification procedures. It has been suggested that minimum mechanical intervention and removal of infection alone may be sufficient. A case is reported in which this was observed.

Capnocytophaga found in root canal system of a nonvital tooth
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1982Abstract An organism previously unreported in the endodontic literature, Capnocytophaga was isolated and identified through the use of a routine culture. Familiarity with this organism may be essential for eradication of sepsis in patients with underlying neoplastic disease in the presence of nonvital teeth.

Touch thresholds of vital and nonvital human teeth
Experimental Neurology, 1975Abstract Stewart (5) determined the touch thresholds of incisors in human subjects and found that the thresholds of the few pulpless teeth he examined did not differ significantly from those of the vital teeth. On the other hand, Loewenstein and Rathkamp (3) found that the thresholds for pulpless teeth were 57% higher than those of vital teeth, and ...

Bleaching of vital and nonvital teeth.
Current opinion in dentistry, 1992Although tooth bleaching has been known to the dental profession for over 100 years, new knowledge is continually surfacing. This review discusses the 1990 to 1991 literature on two nonvital bleaching techniques (thermocatalytic and walking) and three classes of vital bleaching techniques (in-office; dentist-prescribed, home-applied; and over-the ...

Osteogenic Potential of Nonvital Tissues and Synthetic Implant Materials
Journal of Periodontology, 1987Following the application of various techniques to restore or rebuild alveolar bone with different implants, results are generally unpredictable. In successful cases it is not clear whether the materials are capable of initiating Osteogenesis by metaplastic induction, where endogenous bone formation had failed, or initiating Osteogenesis by stimulating

Nonvital tooth bleaching: guidelines for the clinician.
Quintessence international (Berlin, Germany : 1985), 1996The combination of intracoronal and extracoronal bleaching represents a conservative treatment to restore esthetics to darkened or stained nonvital teeth. Notwithstanding the eventual risks and difficulties accompanying such technique, nonvital teeth often can be successfully lightened.
