Norethisterone-induced cholestasis: A case report. [PDF]
The estrogenic component of combined oral contraceptive pill is the one generally believed to be responsible for drug‐induced cholestasis. Progesteron‐only induced‐cholestasis is quite rare and could be triggered by underlying predispositions. Abstract Case presentation This case report concerns a 49‐year‐old woman who developed cholestasis (build‐up ...

Analytical performance of the endogenous thrombin potential-based activated protein C resistance assay on the automated ST Genesia system. [PDF]
Abstract Background The evaluation of activated protein C (APC) resistance based on the endogenous thrombin potential (ETP) is recommended during the development of steroid contraceptives in women. In 2019, this assay was validated on the calibrated automated thrombogram (CAT) device.

The Influence of Norethynodrel on the Hypophysis
The cytological response to norethynodrel was investigated in 3 experiments the 1st using a high dose (1.5 mg/100 gm body weight/day) in intact rats the 2nd using a lower dose in previously ovariectomized rats and the 3rd using doses in the 5-150 mcg range to determine minimal effective dosage.

Ovarian Histology After Treatment of Rats with Norethynodrel.
SummaryNorethynodrel caused enlargement of the corpora lutea with cellular hypertrophy and depletion of sudanophilic lipid and cholesterol. These changes appeared to be mediated by the hypophysis through the accelerated secretion of prolactin. On the other hand, ovarian interstitial tissue underwent involution with depletion of sudanophilic lipid and ...

Some Biological Properties of a Urinary Norethynodrel Metabolite.
SummaryEstrogenic activity of 17α-ethynyl-19-norandrost-4-ene-3β,10β,17β,-triol, a urinary metabolite of norethynodrel, was investigated. The compound exhibited slight estrogenicity when administered subcutaneously. Gavage resulted in increased estrogenicity.
