The global policy network behind integrated water resources management: is it an effective norm diffusor?

open access: yesEcology and Society, 2014
Integrated water resources management (IWRM) has been recognized by many actors as the appropriate approach to respond to challenges in water resources management in a sustainable way.

Uniformly-convergent numerical methods for a system of coupled singularly perturbed convection–diffusion equations with mixed type boundary conditions

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2013
In this paper, two hybrid difference schemes on the Shishkin mesh are constructed for solving a weakly coupled system of two singularly perturbed convection - diffusion second order ordinary differential equations subject to the mixed type boundary ...

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

A Numerical Method for a Singularly Perturbed Three-Point Boundary Value Problem

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2010
The purpose of this paper is to present a uniform finite difference method for numerical solution of nonlinear singularly perturbed convection-diffusion problem with nonlocal and third type boundary conditions.

A cell-centred finite volume approximation for second order partial derivative operators with full matrix on unstructured meshes in any space dimension

open access: yes, 2005
Finite volume methods for problems involving second order operators with full diffusion matrix can be used thanks to the definition of a discrete gradient for piecewise constant functions on unstructured meshes satisfying an orthogonality condition. This

Norm diffusion in cyber governance: China as an emerging norm entrepreneur?

open access: yesInternational Affairs
Abstract In light of China's growing weight as a technological power in the international arena, an increasing body of literature is dedicated to conceptualizing China as a nascent norm-shaper in global cyber governance. However, a nuanced investigation into the process of China's norm diffusion in cyber governance has been lacking ...

Reperfusion‐Dependent Outcomes After Endovascular Thrombectomy Stratified by NIHSS‐ASPECTS Clinical‐Core Mismatch

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This analysis evaluates the effect of successful reperfusion on functional outcomes after MT, stratified by admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) as surrogates for clinical‐core mismatch, using multicenter registry data.

The diffusion determination in a reaction-diffusion system by application of Dubovitskii-Milyutin’s formalism

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems
In this work, we investigate the calibration of diffusion coefficients in a reaction-diffusion system arising in the modelling of the spatial-temporal dynamics of an epidemic.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Isoperimetric inequalities in nonlocal diffusion problems with integrable kernel [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica
We deduce isoperimetric estimates for solutions of linear stationary and evolution problems. Our main result establishes the comparison in norm between the solution of a problem and its symmetric version when nonlocal diffusion defined through integrable
