Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Scattering amplitude of a single fracture under uniaxial stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Remotely sensing the properties of fractures has applications ranging from exploration geophysics to hazard monitoring. Newly developed capabilities to measure the in-plane component of dense laser-based ultrasound wave fields allow us to test the ...

Laboratory estimates of normal and shear fracture compliance

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, 2008
ABSTRACTLaboratory estimates of the normal (Bn) and shear (Bt) compliance of artificial fractures in samples of Jurassic and Carboniferous limestone under wet and dry conditions are presented. The experiments were performed over a range of confining pressures (from 5 MPa up to 60 MPa), at ultrasonic frequencies in a Triaxial Hoek cell, using the pulse ...

Wave reflections and global arterial compliance during normal human pregnancy [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2018
Profound changes occur in the maternal circulation during pregnancy. Routine measures of arterial function - central systolic pressure (CSP) and augmentation index (AIx) - decline during normal human pregnancy. The objectives of this study were twofold: (1) explore wave reflection indices besides CSP and AIx that are not routinely reported, if at all ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Effect of left atrial compliance on pulmonary artery pressure: a case report

open access: yesCardiovascular Ultrasound, 2006
Background Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction, with secondary atrial pressure elevation, is a well-known concept. On the contrary, effect of left atrial compliance on pulmonary pressure is rarely considered.

Displacement Sensor Integrated Into a Remote Center Compliance Device for a Robotic Assembly

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Compliance devices facilitate robotic assemblies by preventing excessive contact force on automated devices. However, the unavailability of displacement information regarding compliance devices makes it difficult to protect robots and objects during ...

Spectroscopic studies of Lewis acid‐base complexes. III: Vibrational frequencies, assignments and normal coordinate analyses for isotopic varieties of phosphine borane and trifluorophosphine borane [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Vibrational spectra of the two Lewis complexes, phosphine borane, PH 3 BH 3 , and trifluoro‐phosphine borane, PF 3 BH 3 , have been investigated for several isotopic species preserving C 3 v symmetry. New assignments are proposed and substantiated by

Field measurements of normal and shear fracture compliance

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, 2011
ABSTRACTField estimates of the normal and shear compliance of water saturated fractures were obtained from a seismic experiment carried out on a wave‐cut platform of Upper Caithness Flagstone on the North coast of Scotland. The rocks are cut by two orthogonal sets of vertical fractures.
