A Normal Form for Stateful Connectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we consider a calculus of connectors that allows for the most general combination of synchronisation, non-determinism and buffering. According to previous results, this calculus is tightly related to a flavour of Petri nets with interfaces for composition, called Petri nets with boundaries.

Hyperbolic normal forms and invariant manifolds: Astronomical applications [PDF]

open access: yesSerbian Astronomical Journal, 2012
In recent years, the study of the dynamics induced by the invariant manifolds of unstable periodic orbits in nonlinear Hamiltonian dynamical systems has led to a number of applications in celestial mechanics and dynamical astronomy.

Periodic and Quasiperiodic Solutions in the System of Three Hutchinson Equations with a Delayed Broadcast Connection

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2018
The dynamics of an association of three coupled oscillators is studied. The link between the oscillators is a broadcast connection, that is, one element unilaterally effects the other two, which in turn interact with each other.

On prefix normal words and prefix normal forms

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 2017
A $1$-prefix normal word is a binary word with the property that no factor has more $1$s than the prefix of the same length; a $0$-prefix normal word is defined analogously. These words arise in the context of indexed binary jumbled pattern matching, where the aim is to decide whether a word has a factor with a given number of $1$s and $0$s (a given ...

Quadratic forms in Normal Variates Under Ridge Regression. [PDF]

open access: yesThe Egyptian Statistical Journal, 1997
This paper concentrates on studying the quadratic forms in normal variates which appear when testing linear statistical hypothesis under ridge regression with positive non-stochastic biased factors k1, k2, …, kp . Except for the correction factor nȳ2, it

Planetary Birkhoff normal forms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Birkhoff normal forms for the (secular) planetary problem are investigated. Existence and uniqueness is discussed and it is shown the classical Poincare variables and the RPS-variables (introduced in [6]), after a trivial lift, lead to the same Birkhoff ...

Hierarchical Symmetry-Breaking Model for Stem Cell Differentiation

open access: yesMathematics
Waddington envisioned stem cell differentiation as a marble rolling down a hill, passing through hierarchically branched valleys representing the cell’s temporal state.

Normal forms of random braids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Analysing statistical properties of the normal forms of random braids, we observe that, except for an initial and a final region whose lengths are uniformly bounded (that is, the bound is independent of the length of the braid), the distributions of the ...

Inquiry-based learning in STEM education: the impact of generative AI-based Chatbots on primary school students’ problem posing ability in science

open access: yesInternational Journal of STEM Education
Background Problem posing serves as the starting point for inquiry-based learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. However, it has not received sufficient attention in primary science education practices.

Les principes pragmatiques de communication dans l’argumentation

open access: yesArgumentation et Analyse du Discours, 2015
Many of the kinds of messages that argumentation scholars call fallacies involve something false or mistaken, but something less than full-fledged lies or less even than just the overt and explicit expression of premises or reasons with false ...
