Solid State Communications, 1963Abstract The frequencies of phonons in the symmetry planes of copper have been determined by measuring the inelastic scattering of slow neutrons with a time of flight apparatus. The springs may all be unequal and nonlinear, but each resists being compressed to the same degree as being stretched.
