Implantable Self‐Powered Systems for Electrical Stimulation Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this paper, the design strategy and clinical application of ISS are discussed in depth from four aspects: the design and optimization of the energy collection module, the selection and preparation of adaptive electrode materials, the innovation of system design strategy, and the biological effect of electrical stimulation of ISS.

Novel Electroactive Therapeutic Platforms for Cardiac Arrhythmia Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electroactive platforms offer promising applications in cardiac arrhythmia. Based on their energy sources and mechanisms, electroactive platforms are categorized into i) direct electrical stimulation, ii) self‐powered electroactive systems, iii) physical stimuli‐mediated electroactive systems, and iv) conductive systems, and their applications in ...

Sinus automaticity and sinoatrial conduction in severe symptomatic sick sinus syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Electrophysiologic studies with recordings of sinus node electrograms were performed in 38 patients with severe symptomatic sick sinus syndrome. Thirty-two of the 38 patients had episodic tachyarrhythmias and 17 presented with syncope.

Inherited and Acquired Rhythm Disturbances in Sick Sinus Syndrome, Brugada Syndrome, and Atrial Fibrillation: Lessons from Preclinical Modeling

open access: yesCells, 2021
Rhythm disturbances are life-threatening cardiovascular diseases, accounting for many deaths annually worldwide. Abnormal electrical activity might arise in a structurally normal heart in response to specific triggers or as a consequence of cardiac ...

The ductal network in the human testis and epididymis: What belongs to which?

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
Abstract The testes and epididymis are traversed by a system of tubules in which sperm cells are generated, matured, nourished, and transported. Among these are the efferent ductules, which connect the rete testis to the duct of the epididymis. In the Terminologia Anatomica (TA), the efferent ductules are assigned to the testicles, while numerous ...

Beat by Beat: Classifying Cardiac Arrhythmias with Recurrent Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
With tens of thousands of electrocardiogram (ECG) records processed by mobile cardiac event recorders every day, heart rhythm classification algorithms are an important tool for the continuous monitoring of patients at risk. We utilise an annotated dataset of 12,186 single-lead ECG recordings to build a diverse ensemble of recurrent neural networks ...

A study on stability analysis of atrial repolarization variability using ARX model in sinus rhythm and atrial tachycardia ECGs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
© 2016 Elsevier Ireland Ltd Background The interaction between the PTa and PP interval dynamics from the surface ECG is seldom explained. Mathematical modeling of these intervals is of interest in finding the relationship between the heart rate and ...

Intravenous administration of quinidine and metoprolol for treatment of atrial fibrillation in 2 neonatal foals

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a rarely reported arrhythmia in otherwise healthy newborn foals, with a single case of cardioversion using procainamide administration described in the literature.

Resistance to thyroid hormone accompanied by atrial fibrillation

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports, 2018
Resistance to thyroid hormone (RTH), which is primarily caused by mutations in the thyroid hormone (TH) receptor beta (THRB) gene, is dominantly inherited syndrome of variable tissue hyposensitivity to TH.
