NORMAL SUBGROUPS OF FUCHSIAN GROUPS
The Quarterly Journal of Mathematics, 1985It is well-known that all finitely-generated Fuchsian groups contain torsion-free normal subgroups of finite index and the particular case of the (2,3,7)-triangle group has been much studied as the corresponding quotient groups are maximal groups of automorphisms of compact Riemann surfaces.

NORMAL SUBGROUPS OF FREE CONSTRUCTIONS
Mathematics of the USSR-Sbornik, 1986Let \({\mathcal G}\) be the smallest class of groups with the following properties: 1) \({\mathcal G}\) contains all cyclic groups, 2) \({\mathcal G}\) is closed with respect to the second order operations in a finite or countable number - taking HNN-extensions with free or cyclic associated subgroups or taking amalgamated free products with free or ...

Groups with Restrictions on Normal Subgroups
Algebra and LogicThe paper studies the structure of groups with no elements of order two in which the normal closure of every two-generated subgroup is nilpotent of class at most 3 and establishes that such a group must be nilpotent of class at most \(4\). Additionally, the paper shows that removing the restriction on elements of order two leads to counterexamples.

Normal Subgroups of Hecke Groups [PDF]
The Hecke group H(λq) is the discrete subgroup of PSL(2,R) generated by R(z) = -1/z and T(z) = z + λq for λq = 2cosπ/q. In this thesis we investigate normal subgroups of these Hecke groups. The most important Hecke group is the modular group obtained for q = 3.
