Retrobulbar Hemodynamic Effects of Nipradilol in Normal and Normal-Tension Glaucoma Eyes

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, 2011
Purpose. To investigate the effects of nipradilol on retrobulbar hemodynamics. Methods. We investigated normal and normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) eyes. Topical nipradilol (one eye) and placebo eye drops (fellow eye) were instilled for 1 week in volunteers.

DiffuPT: Class Imbalance Mitigation for Glaucoma Detection via Diffusion Based Generation and Model Pretraining [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Glaucoma is a progressive optic neuropathy characterized by structural damage to the optic nerve head and functional changes in the visual field. Detecting glaucoma early is crucial to preventing loss of eyesight. However, medical datasets often suffer from class imbalances, making detection more difficult for deep-learning algorithms.

Normal-Tension (Low-Tension) Glaucoma

open access: yes, 2011
Normal-tension glaucoma, also known as low-tension glaucoma, is defined as glaucomatous damage to the optic nerve and visual fields with normal diurnal values of intraocular pressure (IOP). The term 'low-tension glaucoma' is not often used because in most patients with normal-tension glaucoma, the IOP is within the higher range of normal values and ...

Effect of artificial gravity on calcaneal bone marrow adipose tissue and mineral content in female and male participants in 60 days of bed rest

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Modulation of bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT) with prolonged inactivity was reported in haemopoietic but not in non‐haemopoietic bones. This prospective randomized controlled trial submitted 16 men and 8 women to 60 days of 6° head‐down‐tilt bed rest.

Dysregulation of Astrocytic ATP/Adenosine Release in the Hippocampus Cause Cognitive and Affective Disorders: Molecular Mechanisms, Diagnosis, and Therapy

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
Reactive astrocytes release various molecules, which play a role in maintaining central nervous system (CNS) homeostasis. (1) Gliotransmitters, such as glutamate, γ‐aminobutyric acid (GABA), ATP, and D‐serine, are secreted by vesicular exocytosis. In addition, astrocytes can also release ATP and glutamate through (2) P2X7Rs, (3) connexin‐43 (Cx43 ...

Central Nervous System Depression After Topical Administration of Brimonidine Eye Drops to Induce Vomiting in a Cat

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
A 12‐year‐old neutered male American Shorthair cat was presented to the hospital after ingesting toxic plants to cats. Brimonidine instillation was performed to induce vomiting. Three incidents of projectile vomiting were then observed 30 min after the brimonidine administration.

Ranibizumab with luseogliflozin in type 2 diabetes with diabetic macular oedema: A randomised clinical trial

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 5, Page 2473-2484, May 2025.
Abstract Aims Anti‐vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy is the standard treatment for diabetic macular oedema (DMO); however, unmet needs remain. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) in treating DMO.
