Normal tension glaucoma: from the brain to the eye or the inverse?
Glaucoma is a chronic, progressive optic neuropathy characterized by the loss of peripheral vision first and then central vision. Clinically, normal tension glaucoma is considered a special subtype of glaucoma, in which the patient’s intraocular pressure

Differences of optic disc appearance between normal tension and high tension glaucoma patients [PDF]
Introduction. The term glaucoma is used to cover a wide range of diseases, whose main feature is optic neuropathy. According to the level of intraocular pressure (IOP), the open angle glaucoma is arbitrarily divided into high tension glaucoma (HTG ...

Diagnosis and treatment of normal tension glaucoma: a case report
Background: Normal tension glaucoma (NTG) is the form of the disease in which damage to the optic nerve occurs at normal intraocular pressure levels. According to Levene, four times as many patients in the over 40 age group have NTG as have high tension ...

VENOUS OCULAR BLOOD FLOW IN NORMAL TENSION AND HIGH TENSION GLAUCOMA [PDF]
Purpose: to study the eye’s venous blood flow and the correlation between clinical data and ocular blood flow in normal tension and high tension open angle glaucoma (POAG). Methods: Color Doppler imaging of arterial and venous blood flow was performed

Surgery for normal tension glaucoma. [PDF]
The long term follow up of surgery in normal tension glaucoma is presented. One eye of 18 patients with bilateral progressive disease underwent fistulising surgery. Over follow up periods ranging from 2 to 7 years (50% > or = 5 years) the operated eye showed on average a 30% reduction in intraocular pressure (IOP).

I enjoyed the recent study by Ogata et al , in which they attempted to assess the interrelation between intracranial vascular compression of the optic nerves and normal tension glaucoma.1 Coronal magnetic resonance images of the optic nerves were used to assess the degree of compression of the intracranial optic nerves and the supraclinoid internal ...
