Normalized back scattering radar cross section of tropical rain forest in Rondonia, northern Brazil
Advances in Space Research, 1997Abstract Taking an advantage of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) on board Japanese Earth Resources Satellite-1 (JERS-1) in capability of observing land surfaces through clouds, an attempt is made to extract deforested areas of tropical rain forests in Rondonia, Brazil.

A new algorithm has been proposed to recover wind vectors from the simulated Seasat A satellite scatterometer (SASS) normalized radar cross‐section (NRCS) measurements exploiting the fact that all the dual polarized noise‐free NRCS measurements taken in any azimuth direction should provide the same wind speed in the true direction of wind.
