On matrix norms and logarithmic norms
LetA be a complexn×n matrix, letr(A) denote the spectral radius ofA and let ?(A) denote the spectral abscissa ofA. If ? is a norm onC n , we denote by lub? the matrix norm subordinate to ? and by? ? the logarithmic norm corresponding to ?. New proofs are given for the following two relations:r(A)=inf lub? A and ?(A)=inf? ?
