The Role of Iron-Hyponitrite Intermediates in Biology and Insights From Synthetic Model Complexes. [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry
Despite the difference in active site architecture, NO reduction by different NOR enzymes is expected to be linked by a common intermediate: hyponitrite (N2O22−). However, experimentally, very little is known about the coordination chemistry of iron with hyponitrite and the expected Fe‐hyponitrite intermediates.

Beta‐Arrestin‐2 Binds to Nucleolar Organizing Regions With P2X7 Receptor Stimulation and During Cell Division [PDF]

open access: yesFASEB J
Beta‐Arrestin‐2 but not Beta‐Arrestin‐1 can accumulate in the nucleolus and come in close contact with the Nucleolar Organizing Regions during two distinct processes: P2X7 receptor stimulation (A) and cell division (B). Both seem to be due to loss of nuclear membrane barrier that keeps Beta‐arrestin‐2 out of the nucleus.

Cytotaxonomy and karyology of the tribe Otiorhynchini (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2008
A cytogenetic study of bisexual species belonging to the genera Cirrorhynchus, Dodecastichus and Otiorhynchus is presented in order to confirm their taxonomic position. The karyotype characterization was accomplished by an analysis of mitotic and meiotic

A Unified Deep Learning Framework for Instance Segmentation Across Diverse Cytological Stains. [PDF]

open access: yesCytopathology
Transformer‐based unified cytology segmentation across Papanicolaou, Feulgen and AgNOR achieves stain‐invariant performance. Mask2Former maximises boundary precision (AP75) on the combined dataset, enabling one model to replace multiple stain‐specific deployments without accuracy loss while simplifying clinical integration.

C-banding, fluorescent staining and NOR location in holokinetic chromosomes of bugs of the Neotropical genus Antiteuchus (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae: Discocephalinae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2006
Different cytogenetic techniques including C-banding, base-specific fluorochromes and silver nitrate staining were used to compare the karyotypes of three species of bugs, representatives of the Neotropical genus Antiteuchus, namely A.

Cytogenetic study of the Bison bonasus; I: Identification of heterochromatic regions and NORs in European bison karyotype and comparison with domestic cattle (Bos taurus)

open access: yesCaryologia, 2021
The karyotypes of European bison Bison bonasus and domestic cattle Bos taurus are characterized by a diploid number of chromosomes, 2n = 60. Here, we characterized the European bison karyotype in terms of size and distribution of constitutive ...

Chromatin structure of ribosomal RNA genes in dipterans and its relationship to the location of nucleolar organizers. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Nucleoli, nuclear organelles in which ribosomal RNA is synthesized and processed, emerge from nucleolar organizers (NORs) located in distinct chromosomal regions.

Surveillance of Cyclospora cayetanensis Epidemics in USA from Long-Term National Outbreaks Reporting System-Based Monitoring: An Observational Study Using Statistical Process Control Methodologies

open access: yesIberoamerican Journal of Medicine, 2019
Cyclosporiasis epidemics are caused primarily by food contaminated essentially with Cyclospora cayetanensis protozoa from Phylum Apicomplexa. National Outbreaks Reporting System (NORS) provides comprehensive monitoring and records for outbreaks in the ...

Variability of NOR patterns in European water frogs of different genome composition and ploidy level

open access: yesComparative Cytogenetics, 2017
We studied water frogs from a complex composed of two species: Pelophylax lessonae (Camerano, 1882) (genome LL, 2n = 26) and P. ridibundus (Pallas, 1771) (RR, 2 = 26), and their natural hybrid P.
