The North East Water polynya (Greenland Sea)

The nutrient and phytoplankton distributions in the North East Water polynya (NEW) were determined in June 1991. At Norske Oeer Ice Barrier (the polynya's southern boundary), water was upwelled, but vertical instability precluded the development of phytoplankton blooms.

A very short stay, from 12-16 July 1975, at Mestersvig on Kong Oscars Fjord, North East Greenland (720 15' N., 24o W.) gave me the opportunity to make some mycological observations, centering mostly on the gasteromycetes. I visited some localities to the north of Mestersvig (Noret, Nyhavn, Lemming Bugt), and the Store Blydal Valley.
