The statistical significance of the North-South asymmetry of solar activity revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Aims. Many studies of the North-South asymmetry of solar activity and its features have been performed. However, most of these studies do not consider whether or not the asymmetry of the time series under consideration is statistically significant.

North-South asymmetry of the photospheric magnetic field [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2006
It was performed a study of the North-South asymmetry of the magnetic field distribution by comparison of the temporal behavior of long and short term variabilities of the photospheric field at the same latitudes in opposit hemispheres using WSO data sets covered the interval from 1976 to 2005.

Hydrogel Confinement Strategies for 3D Cell Culture in Microfluidic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hydrogel confinement structures are key to organizing 3D cell cultures in microfluidic devices. This review classifies five structural strategies (micropillar, phaseguide, porous membrane, stepped‐height, and support‐free) and examines their trade‐offs alongside fabrication methods.

Significant Gas-to-Dust Ratio Asymmetry and Variation in the Disk of HD 142527 and the Indication of Gas Depletion

open access: yes, 2015
We investigate the dust and gas distribution in the disk around HD 142527 based on ALMA observations of dust continuum, 13CO(3-2), and C18O(3-2) emission.

Melting-induced stratification above the Earth's inner core due to convective translation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In addition to its global North-South anisotropy(1), there are two other enigmatic seismological observations related to the Earth's inner core: asymmetry between its eastern and western hemispheres(2-6) and the presence of a layer of reduced seismic ...

Construction of a Multitissue Cell Atlas Reveals Cell‐Type‐Specific Regulation of Molecular and Complex Phenotypes in Pigs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This research conducts an in‐depth investigation of cell‐type‐specific regulatory mechanisms underlying molecular and complex phenotypes through integrative analysis of multitissue single‐nucleus RNA sequencing, bulk RNA‐seq, and genome‐wide association study (GWAS) data in pigs.

North-South Asymmetry of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field Magnitude and the Geomagnetic Indices

open access: yes, 2016
Data of the daily interplanetary magnetic field (IMF), and the geomagnetic indices (aa, Ap, Kp, and DST) have been used to examine the asymmetry between the solar field north and south of the heliospheric current sheet, over the period (1975-2013).

A Degradable Bioinspired Flier with Aerogel‐Based Colorimetric Sensors for Environmental Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biodegradable fliers are developed inspired by Tipuana tipu samaras, integrating cellulose nanocrystal aerogel (CNCa) sensors loaded with natural dyes for pH and ammonia detection. The lightweight, degradable fliers mimic natural morphology and aerodynamics, offering an eco‐friendly, scalable solution for in situ environmental monitoring after passive ...

Global Embeddedness: Situating Migrant Entrepreneurship within an Asymmetrical, Global Context

open access: yesCentral and Eastern European Migration Review
Historically, approaches within the field of migrant entrepreneurship have almost exclusively focused on migration to nation-states in the Global North. Despite more-recent studies extending the scope to migrants’ home countries – and even third-country ...

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.
