Is the cold spot responsible for the CMB North-South asymmetry?
Several intriguing phenomena, unlikely within the standard inflationary cosmology, were reported in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) data from WMAP and appear to be uncorrelated.

Quasibiennial Oscillations of the North–South Asymmetry [PDF]
The north-south (N-S) asymmetry of the solar activity (A), which reflects differences in the behavior of the northern and southern hemispheres of the Sun, is studied using data on the brightness of the coronal green line, the total number and area of sunspots, and the net magnetic flux.

Long-term North–South Asymmetry of the Heliospheric Current Sheet
Abstract In this paper, we evaluate the heliospheric current sheet (HCS) north–south asymmetry using the ecliptical sector structure of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) reconstructed since the second half of the 19th century. During the last five solar cycles, the inferred IMF polarities fairly reproduce the observed dominance of ...

Accelerated Progression of Gait Impairment in Parkinson's Disease and REM Sleep Without Atonia
ABSTRACT Objective People with Parkinson's disease (PD) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep without atonia (RSWA) often have more severe gait disturbances compared to PD without RSWA. The association between the presence and expression of RSWA and the rate of progression of gait impairment in PD is unknown.

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.

Simulating the dependence of seismo-ionospheric coupling on the magnetic field inclination [PDF]
Infrasound generated during a seismic event upon reaching the ionospheric heights possesses the ability to perturb the ionosphere. Detailed modelling investigation considering 1-D dissipative linear dynamics, however, indicates that the magnitude of ...

Objective This study examined the global and regional temporal changes in cross‐country inequalities of site‐specific osteoarthritis (OA) burden from 1990 to 2021. Methods Age‐standardized years lived with disability rates (ASYRs) for site‐specific OA across 204 countries and territories were obtained from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and ...

Fluctuating helical asymmetry and morphology of snails (Gastropoda) in divergent microhabitats at 'Evolution Canyons I and II,' Israel. [PDF]
Developmental instability of shelled gastropods is measured as deviations from a perfect equiangular (logarithmic) spiral. We studied six species of gastropods at 'Evolution Canyons I and II' in Carmel and the Galilee Mountains, Israel, respectively. The

Laser Metal Deposited Ti4822 Hollow Pipe: Experimental and Computational Modelling Study
Laser metal deposition (LMD) of a crack‐free built Ti4822 alloys is challenging. This article reports outstanding characteristics of a hollow pipe that is built with LMD technology when a predicted, nontransformation substrate temperature of 800 °C is used.

The Shabansky orbit effect can exert a significant influence on the dynamics of particle motion. However, the north‐south asymmetry of the Shabansky orbits has received relatively little attention in previous research.
