Modular knowledge systems accelerate human migration in asymmetric random environments

open access: yes, 2016
Migration is a key mechanism for expansion of communities. In spatially heterogeneous environments, rapidly gaining knowledge about the local environment is key to the evolutionary success of a migrating population.

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Do Economic Growth, Energy Consumption and Population damage the Environmental Quality? Evidence from Five Regions Using the Nonlinear ARDL Approach

open access: yesEnvironmental Challenges, 2022
This study attempts to investigate how economic growth (EG), energy consumption (EC), and population (POP) hurt the environmental quality of five regions: South Asia, East Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, as well as the Middle East ...

North‐south asymmetry of the high‐latitude thermospheric density: IMF BY effect

open access: yes, 2015
Previous studies have established that the y component of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF By) plays a role in the north‐south asymmetry of the high‐latitude plasma convection and wind.

(An)isotropy of the Hubble diagram: comparing hemispheres

open access: yes, 2007
We test the isotropy of the Hubble diagram. At small redshifts, this is possible without assumptions on the cosmic inventory and provides a fundamental test of the cosmological principle.

The solar wind ionic charge states during the Ulysses pole-to-pole pass [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We analyze and compare the ionic charge composition data for different types of the solar wind which the Solar Wind Ion Composition Spectrometer on Ulysses observed during the pole-to-pole pass of its primary mission.

Spiro‐Phenothiazine Hole‐Transporting Materials: Unlocking Stability and Scalability in Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorene‐functionalized spiro‐phenothiazine (PTZ‐Fl) exhibits strong Li+ affinity and thermal stability, enabling a PCE of 25.75% in small‐area cells and 22.07% in 25 cm2 modules. Under ISOS‐L3 conditions, PTZ‐Flbased devices retain over 80% efficiency after 1000 hours, demonstrating superior stability and scalability compared to spiro‐OMeTAD for next ...

Interhemispheric asymmetry of uncertainties in the ionosphere-thermosphere system

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
IntroductionThe north-south difference, or interhemispheric asymmetry (IHA), in the ionosphere-thermosphere (IT) system serves as an indicator of the complex responses to various asymmetric factors between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

Study of Distribution and Asymmetry of Solar Active Prominences During Solar Cycle 23

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we present the results of a study of the spatial distribution and asymmetry of solar active prominences (SAP) for the period 1996-2007 (solar cycle 23).
