Thirty years of glyphosate‐resistant crops and weeds: Current situation and future prospects

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Since 1996, when the first glyphosate‐resistant crop was commercialized and the first resistant weed was reported, resistance has expanded globally. This review analyzes emergence patterns across weed species, crops, regions, resistance mechanisms, and herbicides.

Geographical Movements of Ospreys in the North-west of Russia

Predictability of North Pacific blocking events: Analogue‐based analysis of historical MIROC6 simulations

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The predictability of western and eastern North Pacific blocking events is assessed using analogue‐based diagnostics. Eastern blocks exhibit lower predictability, characterized by faster error growth and higher mean logarithmic divergence rates. The study highlights geographical contrasts in blocking stability.

The role of Turkey in the European energy market [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The essay in this Med-Agenda aims to examine the role of Turkey in the global energy market within the context of European Energy Security. In the essay we have attempted to answer the following questions: What will the future role of Turkey be in the ...

Stratospheric and tropospheric seasonality and its implications for observation requirements in numerical weather prediction

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Daily time series of zonal‐mean zonal wind (m·s−1) at 10 hPa and 60° N from 1950 to 2021 from the ERA5 reanalysis. This shows huge variability in some seasons and very little in others. We provide evidence that high‐level observations, radiosonde and satellite, are more important during the extended winter season with its very large variability ...

Lagrangian analysis of two flavours of Central European heatwaves: Formation under omega blocking versus initiation by subtropical ridges

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We investigate whether Central European heatwaves (HWs) forming under omega blocking differ from those enabled by subtropical ridges, in terms of both air‐mass origin and processes warming air parcels along their way. Using ERA5‐based backward trajectories and a Lagrangian temperature anomaly decomposition, we identify significant differences in the ...

Impact of data assimilation on Arctic sea‐ice thickness variability and its coupling with atmospheric forcing

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We document for the first time how the assimilation of CS2SMOS observations improves the model representation of Arctic sea‐ice thickness (SIT) and its variability: biases are reduced (top row), while excessive variability in the Beaufort Sea and lack of variability in the ice pack are both corrected (bottom row).

Projected Temperature and Precipitation Expand Modeled Distributions of Reynoutria spp. While Modeled Distribution Changes for Ludwigia spp. Are Scenario‐Dependent at Watershed Scales in the Pacific Northwest, USA

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Invasive species can fundamentally alter their introduced habitats by changing natural processes and harming native species crucial to functional ecosystems and human needs. Although the number of potential invasive species is large, the suitability of novel locations to support population establishment is limited by both physical and ...

The terrestrial isopod fauna (Isopoda, Oniscidea) of Abrau Peninsula, north-west Caucasus, Russia

open access: yesZooKeys
From 2001 to 2022, the woodlice fauna of Abrau Peninsula, north-west Caucasus, Russia was examined. The collections yielded 5,581 specimens, which belong to 25 species, 19 genera, and 15 families. The most diverse families are Cylisticidae, Platyarthridae, Trachelipodidae, and Trichoniscidae, each with three species.
