In June 2013 the University of Palermo excavations on Motya were resumed. The main goal of the new project is to investigate the north-east quarter of the Phoenician settlement and its urban development since the time of its foundation. Two main areas of excavation were opened.

Archaeological research in northern Finland has identified a Mesolithic inland occupation extending back to 8500–8000 cal. B.C. Until recently adjacent areas of interior north Norway only revealed evidence for a late Mesolithic occupation post-dating 6000 cal. B.C.

Since 2011 a joint Danish-German archaeological project headed by the authors investigates the North-West Quarter of Jarash Within the ancient walled city of Jarash, the North-West Quarter lies at the highest point of the settlement and overlooks the Roman period Artemision.
