Epileptic arousals: A neglected clinical entity

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Epileptic arousals (EAs) are seizures characterized solely by arousal from sleep. EAs are unrecognized in current seizure classifications. Their subtle semiology and inconsistently detectable ictal activity in scalp electroencephalography (EEG) complicate differentiation from physiological arousals (PAs). This study characterizes EAs

Febrile status epilepticus and epileptogenesis: The FEBSTAT study

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract The multicenter FEBSTAT study (Consequences of Prolonged Febrile Seizures in Childhood: https://grantome.com/grant/NIH/R37‐NS043209‐12; PI S. Shinnar) examined the outcome of febrile status epilepticus (FSE) in over 200 prospectively enrolled infants, with many followed for 10 years after FSE.

Abnormal functional connectivity patterns in temporal lobe epilepsy—An international ENIGMA‐epilepsy study

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) impacts multiple brain networks. Aberrant functional connectivity has been demonstrated in resting‐state networks (RSNs) that mediate higher brain functions in TLE. This study aimed to identify the reproducible patterns of altered functional connectivity in TLE in a large, international cohort through ...

Utility of repeat stereotactic EEG in pediatric patients with tuberous sclerosis

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a rare genetic disorder associated with early‐onset drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE) secondary to intracranial tubers. Many patients undergo stereo‐EEG (sEEG) for seizure onset localization, sometimes requiring multiple sEEGs and subsequent epilepsy surgeries. Our objective was to evaluate the effects

Disrupted cerebellar networks in uncontrolled focal to bilateral tonic–clonic seizures

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Focal to bilateral tonic–clonic seizures (FBTC) are associated with significant morbidity and an elevated risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). The cerebellum has been implicated in modulating the frequency and severity of tonic–clonic seizures.

Rainband‐Occurrence Probability in Northern Hemisphere Tropical Cyclones by Synthetic Aperture Radar Imagery

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Rainbands are essential to tropical cyclones (TCs), significantly affecting TC structure and intensity change. High‐resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery can capture the footprints of rainbands caused by rain‐induced sea surface roughness ...

Fault‐Specific Diagnostic Regions Based on Normalized DC Voltage and Current Indices for Photovoltaic Systems Using Routine Inverter and Environmental Data

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study proposes a fault diagnostic approach for photovoltaic systems using normalized DC voltage and current indices derived from routinely collected inverter and environmental data. The approach enables string‐ and array‐level fault diagnosis without additional measurement equipment and supports operation and maintenance decision‐making.
