Error in ERA5 2‐m temperature identified using GraphCast

We identify a recurrent error in ERA5 2‐m temperature over the Ethiopian Highlands that occurs predominantly at 0600 UTC on ≈7%$$ \approx 7\% $$ of dates. The artefact is caused by the 2D optimal‐interpolation scheme assimilating temporally displaced surface reports (e.g., 0900 UTC) into the 0600 UTC analysis.

Integrated hydrologic and hydrodynamic modeling for flood hazard assessment in Ajay River Basin, West Bengal, India

Abstract The Ajay River, originating from the Chotanagpur Plateau (Bihar) and flowing through Jharkhand into West Bengal before merging with the Bhagirathi‐Hugli near Katwa, is among the most flood‐prone rivers in the region. Its lower reaches frequently experience rainfall‐induced flooding and embankment breaches during the mid‐ to late‐monsoon season.
