Multiple Sclerosis in Northern Norway
European Neurology, 1974An epidemiological survey on multiple sclerosis (MS) was carried out in the two northernmost counties of Norway. It was based on personal investigation of the patients by the author and covered the 20-year period 1953–1972. Prevalence ratios of 20.0 and 21.3/100,000 for men and women, respectively, were found on January 1, 1973.

Without coastal fishing, or seafaring, in boats too large for their crews to draw them ashore, there is no place for the concept of a harbour. And without reindeer herding, there will be no concept of JASSA. That is one point.

Her kunne ein hoyre og observere ikkje berre eitt eller to sprak i bruk, men mange: Norsk, samisk, finsk, russisk, svensk, dansk, engelsk, tysk og fransk.

Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, 1988ABSTRACT— Psychiatric morbidity in the Arctic has not been extensively studied. Seasonal variations in climate, light and darkness are unique for these areas and impose special kinds of strains on the population. Three case‐histories focusing on snow‐wandering as a parasuicidal act are presented.

Ohthalmia neonatorum in Northern Norway
Acta Ophthalmologica, 1992Abstract During one year, 1928 of all 1958 neonates born in the county of Troms in Northern Norway were followed until 6 weeks of age, regarding the development of ophthalmia neonatorum. Conjunctivitis was found in 364 cases (189 per 1000 neonates), including mild and self‐limiting cases.

Coastal cod in Northern Norway
Fisheries Research, 1987Abstract Northeast Arctic cod dominates the Norwegian cod fisheries, but a significant part of the landings are Norwegian coastal cod. In the past, landings of coastal cod by Norway have been estimated to be ∼5% of the total international cod landings north of 62°N.
