Time and Free Trade Agreements: Implications for the AfCFTA

ABSTRACT This study examines how free trade agreements (FTAs) can boost economic growth by increasing trade, with clear implications for the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). Our main finding is that in general, the effects of FTAs are delayed by at least 3 years on average for intra‐African trade.

Climatology of Tropical Cyclones Approaching Tanzania and Their Impacts on Rainfall in East Africa

Tropical cyclones (TCs) that approach Tanzania bring heavy rainfall over northern Mozambique, Tanzania, and south‐central Kenya, but the occurrence of these TCs reduces precipitation over southern African countries. Easterly steering winds and the Mascarene High are key features directing TCs westward.
