[Norwalk virus: recent findings].

Acute gastroenteritis due to Norwalk virus(NV), a member of the family Caliciviridae, is a common illness worldwide. NV is a human pathogen causing food-borne and water-borne diseases that occur in various epidemiological settings. The disease is mild and self-limiting and the symptomatic phase lasts 24 to 72 hours.

Norwalk virus is one of the most important diarrheal viruses. Although the virus was discovered in 1970, the genetic analysis has started from 1990. The virus appears in sporadic cases but also in outbreaks in children and adults. The symptoms are vomiting and diarrhea, but rarely are convulsion and others.
