Who cares about food origin? A comparison of hypothetical survey responses and actual shopping behavior [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper explores the relevance of food origin to consumers when making product purchase decisions. We use data from a survey of pork shoppers at the point of sale of five food retailers in Germany.

Assessing the Impact of Morphological Parameters on the Mechanical Behavior of Synthetic Meshes. A Multivariate Regression Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 41, Issue 9, September 2025.
A data‐driven regression framework was developed to quantify the relationship between mesh morphology and mechanical performance. Thickness, effective porosity, and pore orientation were consistently identified as key predictors, enabling accurate estimations and supporting improved strategies for surgical mesh design.

Feed fortification strategy impact on the risk of necrotizing enterocolitis in infants with complex congenital heart disease

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Volume 81, Issue 3, Page 722-730, September 2025.
Abstract Objectives Development of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in infants with complex congenital heart disease (CHD) has serious negative clinical outcomes. Unfortified expressed breast milk (EBM) is this high‐risk population's enteral feed of choice. EBM often requires fortification to meet nutritional needs to prevent malnutrition.

Microbial Community Associations With Listeria monocytogenes in Food Processing Environments: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 24, Issue 5, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Listeria monocytogenes persistence in food processing environments challenges current understanding of microbial community dynamics. This systematic review and meta‐analysis examined peer‐reviewed studies that screened for Listeria spp. and performed culture‐independent metagenomics on FPE surface samples.

Pulsed Field Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation in Fontan Palliation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 36, Issue 9, Page 2437-2439, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pulsed‐field ablation (PFA) is a novel and effective modality for ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Available case reports and small series showed promising results in patients with congenital heart disease. However, PFA ablation in Fontan patients has not been reported yet.
