Reliability of the Scores for the Finger-to-Nose Test in Adults with Traumatic Brain Injury

Physical Therapy, 1993
The purpose of this study was to determine the intrarater and interrater reliability of measurements of three clinical features of coordination based on the performance of the "finger-to-nose" test.Thirty-seven persons with traumatic brain injury (26 male, 11 female), aged 17 to 64 years (mean = 29.1, SD = 9.9), participated in the study. Each subject's

A human nose scoring system for boar taint and its relationship with androstenone and skatole

Meat Science, 2012
A system for sensory evaluation of boar taint was used to evaluate boar taint in fat samples from 6574 entire males. The term "human nose scoring" has been used to describe this system. The samples from each boar were heated with a hot iron and three panelists assigned scores of 0 to 4.

Extra‐esophageal Reflux, NOSE score, and sleep quality in an adult clinic population

The Laryngoscope, 2013
Objectives/HypothesisGastroesophageal reflux disease and heartburn negatively impact sleep; the impact of extraesophageal reflux (EER) symptoms on sleep is unknown. This study's goal was to evaluate the association of EER and measures of nasal obstruction, mood, insomnia, hypersomnia, and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) risk.Study DesignCross‐sectional ...

Comparison of NOSE Scores Following Functional Septorhinoplasty Using Autologous versus Cadaveric Rib

Facial Plastic Surgery, 2019
AbstractIn functional septorhinoplasty (FSRP), alternative grafting material is used if septal cartilage is insufficient for reconstructive needs. Autologous costal cartilage (ACC) and irradiated homologous costal cartilage (IHCC) are compared via the Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) scale.

Probabilistic Rank Score Coding: A Robust Rank-Order Based Classifier for Electronic Nose Applications

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2015
Motivated by the recent experimental findings about odor identification with the unique spiking patterns of neurons in the biological olfactory system, rank-order-based classifiers have been proposed for gas identification in electronic nose applications.

Interrater reliability of the ENTAS (Ear-, Nose- and Throat-Activity Score)

2010
Introduction: The nasal mucosa is affected in more than 80% of the patients with WG. Therefore a reliable evaluation of the activity by an ENT specialist is mandatory. So far a suitable scoring system is missing. The proposed ENTAS is an advancement of the questionnaire introduced by Paulsen et[for full text, please go to the a.m. URL]

WHITE-NOSE SYNDROME AND WING DAMAGE INDEX SCORES AMONG SUMMER BATS IN THE NORTHEASTERN UNITED STATES

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 2011
White-nose syndrome (WNS) adversely affects millions of bats hibernating in caves of the eastern United States. Beginning in 2009, the US Fish and Wildlife Service supported use of a wing damage index (WDI) scoring system (scale of 0 to 3, or no damage to severe) to assess wing damage of bats captured during summer.
