Hemocytin facilitates host immune responses against Nosema bombycis.
Developmental and Comparative Immunology, 2020Invertebrates lack an adaptive immune response and thus are reliant on their innate immune response for eliminating invading pathogens. The innate immune responses of silkworms against the pathogen Nosema bombycis include: hemocyte aggregation ...

Nosema tyriae n.sp. and Nosema sp., Microsporidian Parasites of Cinnabar Moth Tyria jacobaeae
Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1999Nosema tyriae n.sp. was found in 63% of a population of Cinnabar moth larvae (Tyria jacobaeae). The infection was found in the gut wall, silk glands, and fat body and was probably generalized but appeared to be of low pathogenicity. Merogony and sporogony were by binary fission of diplokaryotic stages.

Comparative virulence of Nosema ceranae and Nosema apis in individual European honey bees
Veterinary Parasitology, 2010Nosema apis and Nosema ceranae are intracellular microsporidian parasites infecting the midgut epithelial cells of adult honey bees. N. ceranae was considered to be restricted to the Asian honey bee, Apis cerana, but is nowadays a parasite found also in the European honey bee (Apis mellifera) across most of the world.

Nosema cuniculi : In vitro Isolation
Science, 1969A mammalian microsporidian was propagated for the first time in vitro with rabbit choroid plexus monolayer cultures. Tentative classification as Nosema cuniculi (Levaditi, 1923) was established by morphologic and tinctorial characteristics and by extrusion of single polar filaments with attached sporoplasin from ...
