General Toxicity and Genotoxicity ofNodularia Moravica(Cyanoprokaryota, Nostocales) [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2010
General toxicity and genotoxicity of cyanoprokaryote Nodularia moravica was investigated on the base of Allium root meristem in vivo test system. Seeds sprouted in dechlorinated tap water were analyzed as a control sample. Seeds sprouted in the water-Dimethyl sulfoxide (9:1, v:v) extract, diluted 50 and 100 times (D1-797 and D2-797, respectively) were ...

Distribution and toxicity of Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii (Cyanobacteria) in Portuguese freshwaters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The cyanobacterium Cylindrospermopsis racborskii has become increasingly prevalent in freshwaters worldwide. This species is of concern from a water quality perspective due to its known ability to produce a potent hepatotoxic alkaloid cylindrospermopsin,

True branched nostocalean cyanobacteria from tropical aerophytic habitats and molecular assessment of two species from field samples

open access: yesRevista de Biología Tropical, 2013
Aerophytic cyanobacteria are commonly found growing on rocks, tree trunks and soil, but the diversity of these organisms is still poorly known. This complex group is very problematic considering the taxonomic arrangement and species circumscription ...

Controlling Lampenflora in Heritage Sites: In Situ Testing of Polyoxometalate–Ionic Liquids in the Pommery Champagne Cellar

open access: yesChemPlusChem, Volume 90, Issue 7, July 2025.
The article evaluates polyoxometalate–ionic liquids (POM–ILs) as biocidal agents against lampenflora in the UNESCO‐listed Pommery Champagne cellar. POM–ILs effectively inhibit microbial colonization over one year with minimal visual impact and outperform the commercial biocide Preventol RI80.

Multi-Toxin Occurrences in Ten French Water Resource Reservoirs

open access: yesToxins, 2018
Cyanobacteria are known to produce a wide array of metabolites, including various classes of toxins. Among these, hepatotoxins (Microcystins), neurotoxins (Anatoxin-A and PSP toxins) or cytotoxins (Cylindrospermopsins) have been subjected to numerous ...

Diversity and biosynthetic potential of culturable microbes associated with toxic marine animals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Tetrodotoxin (TTX) is a neurotoxin that has been reported from taxonomically diverse organisms across 14 different phyla. The biogenic origin of tetrodotoxin is still disputed, however, TTX biosynthesis by host-associated bacteria has been reported.
