Experimental Investigation on the Tensile and Fracture Properties of Burst-Prone Coal under Quasistatic Condition

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
To study the tensile and fracture properties of the specimen under the quasistatic loading, the Brazilian disc splitting method and the notched semicircular bend (NSCB) method were used to test the tensile properties of coal specimens, and the fracture ...

Flash Assembloids: A Rapid Biofabrication of a Platform for Modeling Early Glioblastoma Invasion at the Glioblastoma–Brain Organoid Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...

A METHOD MEASURING FRACTURE PARAMETERS OF BRITTLE MATERIAL USING U-NOTCHES

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2015
Based on two stress criterions( the maximum circumferential stress criterion and average circumferential stress criterion) for U-notches under Mode-I,relationships among the critical notch stress intensity factor, the fracture toughness and the tensile ...

Stress Distributions and Notch Stress Intensity Factors in Multimaterial V-notches Under Antiplane Shear and Torsion

open access: yes, 2021
This study investigates how the insertion of multimaterial circular regions embracing the tip of a finite V-notch can be used to reduce the Notch Stress Intensity Factors (NSIFs) in structures subjected to antiplane shear or torsion. Towards this goal, this work presents a novel theoretical framework to calculate stress distributions and NSIFs in ...

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Effect of material properties on optimal radial strain gage locations in sharp V-notched configurations

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
A simple yet reliable and powerful methodology using only one strain gage has been recommended for appropriate determination of notch stress intensity factor (NSIF) for sharp V-notched configurations subjected to mode I condition.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Can Elastomers Combine Stiffness, Toughness and Fatigue Resistance?

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review studies how the molecular and macroscopic architecture of elastomers influence their mechanical properties including: stiffness, stretchability, toughness, fatigue resistance, and damping behavior. By linking the structure to performance, it proposes design principles for advanced elastomeric systems that combine mechanical properties ...
