Reduced inclination of cervical spine in a novel notebook screen system - implications for rehabilitation

open access: yesJournal of Occupational Medicine and Toxicology, 2011
Background Professional working at computer notebooks is associated with high requirements on the body posture in the seated position. By the high continuous static muscle stress resulting from this position at notebooks, professionals frequently working

CALB2 is a Mechanoresistance Gene in Metastatic Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer cell lines of differing origins were cultured over many passages while being subjected to semi‐lethal levels of fluid shear stress, representing the harsh mechanical environment these cells are subjected to in the circulation during the process of distant metastasis.

Uncovering Aggregation‐Induced Emission in Carbon Dots for Color‐Changing Hydrogels and Information Encryption

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Red‐emissive carbon dots (R‐CDs) exhibiting aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) and aggregation‐caused quenching (ACQ) effects are synthesized from citric acid and urea. They display weak blue fluorescence in water but strong red emission in DMF due to aggregation.

From documents to datasets: A MediaWiki-based method of annotating and extracting species observations in century-old field notebooks

open access: yesZooKeys, 2012
Biological field notebooks are records of lives spent outside in nature. Part diary, part scientific record, field notebooks often contain details required to understand the location and environmental conditions existent during collecting events. Despite

A Phosphorylation‐Induced Micellization Switch in the Low‐Complexity Domain of TDP‐43

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phosphorylation of TAR DNA‐binding protein's 43 kDa (TDP‐43) low‐complexity domain by casein kinase 1 delta (CK1δ) acts as a molecular switch, redirecting its self‐assembly from macroscopic phase separation toward finite‐sized, spherical block‐copolymer micelles of ∼30 nm.

A Universal Protein Ladder for Standardization of Diverse FRET Assays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Translating FRET measurements from in vitro to intracellular environments requires universal benchmarks. We present a modular protein ladder using TPR motifs to harmonize data across diverse platforms. This predictable calibration curve bridges single molecule FRET measurements, with cell based measurements including FLIM‐FRET.

Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.
