New species of Cortinarius sect. Austroamericani, sect. nov., from South American Nothofagaceae forests [PDF]
In this study, we document and describe the new Cortinarius section Austroamericani. Our results reveal high species diversity within this clade, with a total of 12 recognized species. Of these, only C. rufus was previously documented.

Where early successional forests are more flammable than old‐growth forests, forested landscapes are vulnerable to shifting into ‘fire traps' through positive feedbacks, where fire leads to more fire. These feedbacks are amplified by increased flammability driven by climate change, the presence of non‐native flammable plant species, and slowed ...

We evaluated nectar robbery by native and invasive bumblebees in the hummingbird‐pollinated shrub Desfontainia fulgens in southern Chile. Nectar robbery strongly reduced nectar standing crop and altered floral visitation patterns, but these proximate effects did not translate into reduced seed production under natural pollination conditions.

Evidence of chloroplast capture in South American Nothofagus (subgenus Nothofagus, Nothofagaceae)
Subgenus Nothofagus, although geographically restricted at present to temperate areas of South America, has captured much attention in discussions of plant biogeography due to its widespread distribution through Gondwanan continents during the Tertiary. However, phylogenetic relationships within the subgenus Nothofagus have not yet been resolved.

Assembly of Australia's Alpine Seed Plant Flora
ABSTRACT To characterise the assembly of Australia's distinctive native alpine seed plant flora. Past events when species were sequestered into the alpine habitat from warmer climates and/or distant regions were identified using published phylogenies and distribution information.

Data from: Plant, herbivore and parasitoid community composition in native Nothofagaceae forests vs. exotic pine plantations [PDF]
1.Converting natural areas into land used for production causes dramatic changes in the configuration of landscapes. Both the loss and fragmentation of native habitats contribute to biodiversity loss worldwide and the consequent creation of artificial ...

Drying processes in the Brazilian palm swamps or Veredas, impact the gall community in adjacent vegetation by reducing the abundance of more sensitive galls, while more resilient galls acclimate to increased dryness by developing thicker protective tissues. Abstract Galls are new plant organs formed in response to the stimuli of gall‐inducing organisms,
