The growth of the dominant height of the stand and the IS is assumed to express the effects of all relevant site factors on the growth. El trabajo con especies forestales nativas en el país se ha centrado, principalmente, al estudio de comunidades boscosas existentes y a su manejo. La posibilidad de utilizar diversas especies de dichas comunidades en forma de bosque artificial ha cobrado relevancia en los últimos años. El género Nothofagus es el más estudiado.
