Regeneration characteristics of a swamp forest in northwestern Tasmania [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The botanical composition and regeneration characteristics are described for a Melaleuca ricifoliaLeptospermum lanigerum forest from northwestern Tasmania. The size classes of the two dominant species are highly correlated with tree age.

A Systematic Review of 65 Years of Research on Nothofagus: An Iconic Southern Hemisphere Genus

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Nothofagus is a genus of 37 species of tree distributed across the Southern Hemisphere and has long been considered a taxon of fundamental importance for understanding the evolution and ecology of the forest ecosystems of the Southern Hemisphere. Using quantitative text analysis, we evaluated 65 years of research on this iconic genus.

Surface-bound phosphatase activity in living hyphae of ectomycorrhizal fungi of Nothofagus obliqua

open access: yesMycologia, 2004
We determined the location and the activity of surface-bound phosphomonoesterase (SBP) of five ectomycorrhizal (EM) fungi of Nothofagus oblique. EM fungal mycelium of Paxillus involutus, Austropaxillus boletinoides, Descolea antartica, Cenococcum geophilum and Pisolithus tinctorius was grown in media with varying concentrations of dissolved phosphorus.

The genus problem – Eucalyptus as a model system for minimising taxonomic disruption

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 74, Issue 3, Page 495-506, June 2025.
Abstract The ongoing reclassification of higher plant genera (their division, combining and recircumscription) is the cause of extensive modifications to binomials. Many genus reclassifications have been far more taxonomically disruptive than necessary to achieve monophyletic genera.
