Do camera light traps for moths provide similar data as conventional funnel light traps?

Insect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 19, Issue 3, Page 498-510, May 2026.
We recorded moths using a traditional collection method (funnel light traps, FLTs) and compared them with records made using automated camera light traps (CLTs). In direct comparison, the recorded moth species richness was similar, but the CLTs were able to leverage their advantages over longer periods of time and recorded more species.

Phylogenetic insights into Dyopsinae (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae): Resolving the systematic position of Thiacidinae

Systematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 2, April‐June 2026.
In this study, a new phylogenetic study reclassifies the moth subfamilies Dyopsinae and Thiacidinae. For the first time, Thiacidas postica—the type species of Thiacidinae—was sequenced and shown to belong within Dyopsinae, in the Ceroctena clade. As a result, Thiacidinae is reinstated as the tribe Thiacidini (stat. nov.) within Dyopsinae.
