Carbon Stocks in Sugarcane Biomass and Their Implications on Land Use Change CO2 Balance in Brazil
GCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 8, August 2026.This paper develops a regionalized carbon stock factor for sugarcane biomass in Brazil, showing that sugarcane cultivation can lead to net carbon removal in most municipalities. The findings improve greenhouse gas inventories and support bioenergy policies by providing more accurate, spatially resolved estimates for land use change emissions.
