View Independent Generative Adversarial Network for Novel View Synthesis
2019 IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2019Synthesizing novel views from a 2D image requires to infer 3D structure and project it back to 2D from a new viewpoint. In this paper, we propose an encoder-decoder based generative adversarial network VI-GAN to tackle this problem. Our method is to let the network, after seeing many images of objects belonging to the same category in different views ...

Rotationally-Consistent Novel View Synthesis for Humans
Proceedings of the 28th ACM International Conference on Multimedia, 2020Human novel view synthesis aims to synthesize target views of a human subject given input images taken from one or more reference viewpoints. Despite significant advances in model-free novel view synthesis, existing methods present two major limitations when applied to complex shapes like humans.

Bi-layer inpainting for novel view synthesis
2011 18th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2011We present a bi-layer inpainting method for synthesizing novel views from a single color image and its corresponding depth map under the exemplar-based inpainting framework. Unlike conventional image inpainting, the decisions of the inpainting direction and the sample regions are important to inpaint disoccluded regions which disclose hidden background

Novel view synthesis using a translating camera
Pattern Recognition Letters, 2005This paper addresses the problem of synthesizing novel views of a scene using images taken by an uncalibrated translating camera. We propose a method for synthesis of views corresponding to translational motion of the camera. Our scheme can handle occlusions and changes in visibility in the synthesized views.

Appearance Flow Completion for Novel View Synthesis
Computer Graphics Forum, 2019AbstractNovel view synthesis from sparse and unstructured input views faces challenges like the difficulty with dense 3D reconstruction and large occlusion. This paper addresses these problems by estimating proper appearance flows from the target to input views to warp and blend the input views.

Novel view synthesis by cascading trilinear tensors
IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 1998Presents a new method for synthesizing novel views of a 3D scene from two or three reference images in full correspondence. The core of this work is the use and manipulation of an algebraic entity, termed the "trilinear tensor", that links point correspondences across three images.

Inverse tensor transfer for novel view synthesis
IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005, 2005This paper provides a new transfer based novel view synthesis method. This method does not need a pre-computed dense depth map, therefore overcomes most common problems associated with conventional dense correspondence algorithms, yet still produce very photo-realistic novel images.

Novel View Synthesis Based on Similar Perspective
Computer Animation and Virtual WorldsABSTRACTNeural radiance fields (NeRF) technology has garnered significant attention due to its exceptional performance in generating high‐quality novel view images. In this study, we propose an innovative method that leverages the similarity between views to enhance the quality of novel view image generation.
