지난 20여년 동안 몽골에서 한국문학작품 번역이 매우 활발하게 이루어졌지만, 번역에 대한 비평은 거의 찾아볼수 없습니다. 하지만 번역에 대한 심도 있는 비평이 이루어져야 번역의 수준이 향상될수 있습니다. 저는 이번에 한국의 문학번역원 지원으로 출간된 ‘한국학의 즐거움’의 몽골어 번역본을 읽어보았습니다. 번역본은 전반적으로 몽골어 번역이 매끄럽지 못해서 원저자의 의도를 제대로 살리지 못한 부분이 상당히 여러 군데 보였습니다. 번역이 매끄럽지 못하다는 것은 정확한 어휘 대역이 이루어지지 않았고, 번역문 몽골어의 문체가 일반 몽골인 독자들에게 생경하거나 부자연스럽다는 것입니다.
