The extent of realization of vapor-liquid phase equilibrium in nozzles has been investigated as a function of initial particle size, kinetic parameters, and nozzle dimensions. It has been shown that condensation will occur on already present particles only for very small sizes and/or large nozzles 20–30 in. or more in diameter.

Shock Waves, 2009
Flow separation in supersonic convergent–divergent nozzles has been the subject of several experimental and numerical studies in the past. Today, with the renewed interest in supersonic flights and space vehicles, the subject has become increasingly important, especially for aerospace applications (rockets, missiles, supersonic aircrafts, etc.).

Analysis of Plume Infrared Signatures of S-Shaped Nozzle Configurations of Aerial Vehicle
, 2016The infrared susceptibility of the propulsion system of an aircraft is significantly affected by nozzle shapes and atmospheric conditions. To examine the effects of nozzle shapes and atmospheric conditions, various nozzle shapes were selected by ...

An analytical method is presented for the design of axisymmetric annular nozzles to yield uniform and axial flow. Computed results are used to display typical matched inner and outer contours, the effects of major initial flow variables, and the resulting wall forces.

Aggregate Breakup in a Contracting Nozzle
Langmuir, 2009The breakup of dense aggregates in an extensional flow was investigated experimentally. The flow was realized by pumping the suspension containing the aggregates through a contracting nozzle. Variation of the cluster mass distribution during the breakage process was measured by small-angle light scattering.

Effect of Nozzle Orientation on Dense Jets in Stagnant Environments
, 2015Laboratory experiments on single dense jets oriented at angles from 15° to 85° to the horizontal are reported. The major flow properties were measured by laser-induced fluorescence at the maximum rise height, impact point, and, for the first time, at the

Condensation phenomena in nozzles
Heterogeneous Combustion Conference, 1963Abstract The current status of knowledge on condensation phenomena in supersonic nozzles is reviewed for readers primarily concerned with combustion processes. The history and different experimental approaches to the problem are discussed and areas of current applications are pointed out.
