Meniscus Pixel Printing for Contact‐Lens Vision Sensing and Robotic Control

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A visual‐sensing contact lens is enabled by meniscus pixel printing (MPP), which rapidly patterns a 200 µm perovskite photodetector pixel in 1 s without masks, vacuum processing, or bulky equipment. A deep‐learning‐based super‐resolution reconstructs sparse on‐lens signals into 80 × 80 high‐resolution visual information, while AI‐driven eye‐tracking ...

Magnetic nozzles for space plasma thrusters

open access: yes, 2016
The magnetic nozzle (MN) is an appealing plasma acceleration technology that enables the electrodeless, contactless, and adaptable control of a plasma jet. Using a 2-D, two-fluid plasma model, the core physical principles that enable the operation of a propulsive MN are reviewed, including the key mechanisms involved in thrust generation, plasma ...

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

Use of multiple discrete wall jets for delaying boundary layer separation [PDF]

open access: yes
The effectiveness of a spanwise array of small discrete blowing nozzles in preventing separation of a turbulent boundary layer was investigated experimentally. The spacing, axial location, and momentum flux of the nozzles were varied in a systematic way,

Biocompatible but Antibacterial Mechanism of Graphene Oxide for Sustainable Antibiotics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene oxide (GO) exhibits selective antibacterial activity through specific interactions between its oxygen functional groups and bacterial membrane phospholipid POPG, causing membrane destabilization while maintaining biocompatibility. Model membrane studies and infected wound models in mice and pigs demonstrate effective bacterial suppression and ...

Experimental investigation of five parallel plane jets with variation of Reynolds number and outlet conditions

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
This article describes an experimental investigation in the near field of five parallel plane jets. The study applies 2D Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) for ventilated and unventilated jets, where ventilated means exiting into a duct with expansion ...

Assembly of Cell‐Seeded 3D Printed Hydrogel Modules with Perfusable Channel Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Macroscale assembly was utilized to prepare perfusable tissue constructs from individually 3D printed hydrogel modules with embedded branched channel networks and port arrays for cell seeding. Novel multi‐material bioreactors were fabricated to facilitate the gluing of individual modules and the perfusion culture of assembled modular constructs seeded ...
