Integrated characterization of Greek fennel genotypes through morpho‐agronomical characteristics, yield components and phytochemical compounds

open access: yesJSFA reports, Volume 5, Issue 3, Page 91-103, March 2025.
Abstract Background Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) is a widely cultivated vegetable and aromatic‐medicinal plant. In this research, field studies assessed 12 fennel genotypes of diverse origin, comprising 10 Greek accessions and two European commercial varieties, focusing on their morpho‐agronomical traits, phenolic compounds and antioxidant ...

Biofertilization of canola seeds with Peribacillus simplex and Paenibacillus polymyxa bacteria increases tocopherol content

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Biofertilization with plant growth‐promoting bacteria (PGPB) is a reliable strategy to reduce the amounts of chemical fertilizers applied to crops. Nevertheless, the effects of biofertilizers on plant chemical constituents that influence food quality and human health should be evaluated.

Effect of bio‐fertilization and edapho‐climatic conditions on chickpea nodulation, grain yields, and seed protein in a Mediterranean context: a meta‐analysis approach

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Chickpeas (Cicer arietinum L.) serve as a protein‐rich staple, particularly in Mediterranean countries, where they are often grown in marginal and water‐stressed areas. This meta‐analysis synthesized evidence from peer‐reviewed publications across Mediterranean countries to assess how chickpea rhizobial inoculation influences chickpea ...

Agricultural and environmental drivers of variation in the composition of food crops: A scoping review

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Agricultural management and environmental conditions influence the biochemical composition of food crops; however, the specific drivers of this variation remain insufficiently understood, despite their importance for climate change adaptation and human health.

Rootstock impacts on citrus flush dynamics, vegetative growth, and Diaphorina citri infestation and dispersion: Implications for huanglongbing management

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Dwarfing citrus rootstocks restrict flush shoot growth on the scion, thereby reducing Asian citrus psyllid infestation, dispersal, and huanglongbing (HLB) progression. These findings support the use of dwarfing rootstocks as an effective cultural strategy in integrated HLB management for citrus orchards.
