Arabidopsis ein2-1 and npr1-1 Response to Al Stress

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2014
An enhanced Al(3+) tolerance has been observed in ethylene insensitive mutant ein2-1 and salicylic acid insensitive mutant npr1-1 of Arabidopsis. However, we found that the tolerant phenotype of ein2-1 and npr1-1 under Al stress was dependent on NPR and EIN function, respectively, because the double mutant ein2-1/npr1-1 displayed more sensitive to Al ...

NPR1 preferentially binds to the DNA-inactive form of Arabidopsis TGA2

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Regulatory Mechanisms, 2008
Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) is triggered by hormone defense cues and is associated with the onset of expression of pathogenesis-related (PR) genes that encode for anti-microbial proteins in plants. In the case of PR-1, transcriptional activation involves promoter-specific recruitment of transcription factors such as TGA2 through a mechanism that

Characterization and expression patterns of the NPR1-like genes in maize

Journal of Genetics
The nonexpressor of pathogenesis-related 1 (NPR1) is the salicylic acid (SA) receptor, which plays an important regulatory role in plant immunity. However, the NPR1-like gene family in maize has not been comprehensively identified and analysed. In the present study, we identified gene structures, conserved motifs, cis-elements, and expression patterns ...

Molecular cloning and characterization of NPR1 gene from Arachis hypogaea

Molecular Biology Reports, 2014
The NPR1 gene was an important regulator for a plant disease resistance. The cDNA of NPR1 gene was cloned from peanut cultivar Ri Hua 1 by rapid amplification of cDNA ends-polymerase chain reaction (RACE-PCR). The full length cDNA of Arachis hypogaea NPR1 consisted of 2,078 base pairs with a 1,446 bp open-reading frame encoding 481 amino acids.

Regulation of systemic acquired resistance by NPR1 and its partners.

Novartis Foundation symposium, 2001
The NPR1 protein of Arabidopsis thaliana has been shown to be an important regulatory component of systemic acquired resistance (SAR). Mutations in the NPR1 gene block the induction of SAR by the signal molecule salicylic acid (SA). NPR1 contains an ankyrin repeats and a BTB domain which are involved in interaction with other protein(s).

A role for salicylic acid and NPR1 in regulating cell growth in Arabidopsis

The Plant Journal, 2001
SummarySalicylic acid (SA) plays a key role in activating defenses and cell death during plant–pathogen interactions. In response to some pathogens, SA also limits the extent of cell death, indicating that it acts positively or negatively depending on the host–pathogen interaction.
