Chaperone function of Arabidopsis NPR1

Plant Biotechnology Reports, 2020
To cope with diverse environmental stresses, the sessile organisms of plants have evolved diverse defense molecules and signaling systems to transfer the stress signals into downstream metabolic cascades and induce the expression of defense-associated genes.

NPR1 in JazzSet with Pathogen Effectors

Trends in Plant Science, 2018
NON-EXPRESSOR OF PATHOGENESIS-RELATED GENES 1 (NPR1) is a master regulator of salicylic acid (SA)-mediated systemic acquired resistance (SAR), a broad-spectrum disease resistance mechanism in plants. NPR1 controls approximately 90% of SA-dependent transcriptome in Arabidopsis.

Distinct submembrane localisation compartmentalises cardiac NPR1 and NPR2 signalling to cGMP [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
AbstractNatriuretic peptides (NPs) are important hormones that regulate multiple cellular functions including cardiovascular physiology. In the heart, two natriuretic peptide receptors NPR1 and NPR2 act as membrane guanylyl cyclases to produce 3′,5′-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP).

NPR1: the spider in the web of induced resistance signaling pathways [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Plant Biology, 2004
The plant hormones salicylic acid (SA), jasmonic acid (JA), and ethylene (ET) are major players in the regulation of signaling networks that are involved in induced defense responses against pathogens and insects. During the past two years, significant progress has been made in understanding the function of NON-EXPRESSOR OF PATHOGENESIS-RELATED GENES1 (

Salicylic Acid Engages Central Metabolic Regulators SnRK1 and TOR to Govern Immunity by Differential Phosphorylation of NPR1

bioRxiv
Immunity is a delicate balance between combating infection and preserving the metabolic functions vital for host survival. However, the mechanisms by which immune responses are coordinated with cellular metabolism remain largely unknown.

Arabidopsis ein2-1 and npr1-1 Response to Al Stress

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2014
An enhanced Al(3+) tolerance has been observed in ethylene insensitive mutant ein2-1 and salicylic acid insensitive mutant npr1-1 of Arabidopsis. However, we found that the tolerant phenotype of ein2-1 and npr1-1 under Al stress was dependent on NPR and EIN function, respectively, because the double mutant ein2-1/npr1-1 displayed more sensitive to Al ...

Targeting NPR1: a strategy went viral

Trends in Plant Science
Non-expressor of pathogenesis-related 1 (NPR1) acts as master regulator of plant immunity by promoting salicylic acid (SA) signalling. Some bacterial and fungal pathogens target NPR1 to inhibit SA-mediated immunity. Recently, Zhang et al. and Liu et al.

NPR1 promotes cisplatin resistance by inhibiting PARL-mediated mitophagy-dependent ferroptosis in gastric cancer

Cell Biology and Toxicology
Cisplatin-based chemotherapy serves as the standard of care for individuals with advanced stages of gastric cancer. Nevertheless, the emergence of chemoresistance in GC has detrimental impacts on prognosis, yet the underlying mechanisms governing this ...

Molecular cloning and characterization of NPR1 gene from Arachis hypogaea

Molecular Biology Reports, 2014
The NPR1 gene was an important regulator for a plant disease resistance. The cDNA of NPR1 gene was cloned from peanut cultivar Ri Hua 1 by rapid amplification of cDNA ends-polymerase chain reaction (RACE-PCR). The full length cDNA of Arachis hypogaea NPR1 consisted of 2,078 base pairs with a 1,446 bp open-reading frame encoding 481 amino acids.

Isolation and characterization of the rice NPR1 promoter

Plant Biotechnology Reports, 2009
NPR1 is a positive regulator of systemic acquired resistance in Arabidopsis and rice. Expression of the rice gene OsNPR1 is induced by salicylic acid (SA). To identify the region of the OsNPR1 promoter involved in response to SA, we carried out deletion mutagenesis of the region 1005 bp upstream of the OsNPR1 start codon.
