Background. The NT-ProBNP/BNP test has been validated as a marker for determining the etiology of acute dyspnea. In the setting of end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis (ESRD on HD), the utility of the NT-ProBNP/BNP test has not been validated.

ST2 and Multimarker Testing in Acute Decompensated Heart Failure [PDF]
Most data on heart failure biomarkers have been derived from patient cohorts with chronic disease. However, risk prediction in patients admitted with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) remains a challenge.

The predictive value of preoperative B-type natriuretic peptide in children undergoing cardiac surgery [PDF]
Introduction: B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) is a biomarker of myocardial stress. In children, the value of preoperative BNP on postoperative outcome is unclear.

N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide and risk of future cognitive impairment in the REGARDS cohort [PDF]
Background: Improved understanding of the etiology of cognitive impairment is needed to develop effective preventive interventions. Higher amino-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a biomarker of cardiac dysfunction associated with ...

Implementation of guideline‐recommended medical therapy for patients with heart failure in Europe
Abstract Physicians' adherence to guideline‐recommended heart failure (HF) treatment remains suboptimal, especially regarding the target doses. In particular, there is evidence that non‐cardiologists are less compliant with HF guideline recommendations. This is likely to have a detrimental impact on patients' survival, readmissions and quality of life.

Heart failure (HF) is the final common stage of many diseases of the heart. NT-proBNP levels are increased in HF and correlate well with ventricular wall stress and severity of HF. Combination therapy with Bisoprolol and ACE-inhibitor decreases NT-proBNP

Diagnostic performance and reference values of novel biomarkers of paediatric heart failure [PDF]
Objective: Biomarkers play a pivotal role in heart failure (HF) management. Reference values and insights from studies in adults cannot be extrapolated to the paediatric population due to important differences in pathophysiology and compensatory reserve.

Lean ZSF1 rats in basic research on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction
Abstract Aims ZSF1 obese rats harbouring two mutant leptin receptor alleles (Leprcp and Leprfa) develop metabolic syndrome and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), making them a widely used animal model in cardiometabolic research.

Abstract Aims Transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR‐CM) is an increasinglyrecognized cause of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), which may be diagnosed non‐invasively using 99mTc 3,3‐diphosphono‐1,2‐propanodicarboxylic acid (DPD) scintigraphy‐based diagnostic criteria.
