Magnesium potassium phosphate cements to immobilize radioactive concrete wastes generated by decommissioning of nuclear power plants [PDF]
This paper evaluates the efficacy of magnesium potassium phosphate cements (MKPCs) as waste forms for the solidification of radioactive concrete powder wastes produced by the decommissioning of nuclear power plants. MKPC specimens that contained up to 50

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

SOURCES OF NATURAL BACKGROUND RADIATION
After the major accidents in “Chernobyl” NPP, located on the territory of present-day Ukraine, and then in the USSR in April 1986, in Bulgaria, as well as in most European countries a lack of systems for a continuous measurement of gamma radiation was ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
