Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Energy

2011
Particle physics is a frontier subject which studies the smallest constituents of matter and the laws governing their interactions. It plays an important role in studying the origin and evolution of the universe and the formation and evolution of the celestial bodies.

Nuclear and Particle Physics

2015
Nuclear and Particle Physics provides an introductory course on nuclear and particle physics for undergraduate and early-graduate students, which the author has taught for several years at the University of Zurich. It contains fundamentals on both nuclear and particle physics, giving emphasis to the discovery and history of developments in the field ...

Nuclear and Elementary-Particle Physics

2021
Abstract The chapter addresses several important questions, such as nuclear stability: why are some nuclei stable, while others are not (that is, they undergo fission)? How many stable elements can we expect? How is the electrical charge distributed within protons and neutrons?

Nuclear and particle physics in the early universe

Progress in Particle and Nuclear Physics, 1981
In these lectures a review will be made of various events in the early universe where nuclear and elementary particle physics effects come into play. Several events will only briefly be mentioned, since they have been reviewed previously. However, some detail will be given to new results on big bang nucleosynthesis, massive neutrinos and inflationary ...

Nuclear and elementary particle physics

Physics Bulletin, 1969
A most successful conference on nuclear and elementary particle physics was held at the University of Sussex on 24–26 September 1969. The purpose of the conference was to bring together two branches of physics which, over the last few years, have tended to develop independently of each other.

Nuclear physics with strange particles

Nuclear Physics A, 1985
Abstract Strange particles are characterized by having one or more heavy quarks with the flavour strangeness. Evidence is presented that the introduction of strange quarks might offer a possibility to trace the role of quarks in low momentum transfer interactions. Three examples are presented.

Nuclear and particle physics conference

Physics Bulletin, 1972
In the account of the nuclear and particle physics conference held in Oxford, 23 September 1971 (Physics Bulletin January 1972 p40), the summary of my talk is somewhat misleading. My talk consisted of two rather different parts.
