NUCLEAR ASTROPHYSICS

Theoretical Nuclear Physics in Italy, 2003
In this report I will try to illustrate some of the main research themes and hot topics in nuclear astrophysics. The particular aim of the present report is to briefly illustrate the research activities, in the field of nuclear astrophysics, performed by the Italian nuclear physicist community within the "Programma di Ricerca di Interesse Nazionale su ...

Nuclear astrophysics in a q–environment

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007
Fluctuations and dynamical collisions can be responsible of non standard distributions observed in many astrophysical environments or astrophysical plasmas. In fact, since Coulomb collisions are the means to achieve equilibrium, plasmas are typically not in global thermodynamic equilibrium.

Nuclear astrophysics

Physics of Atomic Nuclei, 2010
The International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009) was declared by the 62nd General Assembly of the United Nations and was also endorsed by UNESCO. Investigations in the realms of particle and nuclear physicsmake a large contribution in the development of our ideas of the properties of the Universe.

Cluster Models in Nuclear Astrophysics

Clustering Aspects of Quantum Many-Body Systems, 2002
The general context of low energy reactions in nuclear astrophysics is outlined. Different cluster models, used in this field, are briefly presented. We discuss more specifically the potential model, the R-matrix method and microscopic models. Other techniques are commented on, and recent applications are presented.

Nuclear Astrophysics at DANCE

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2005
One of the most interesting nuclear physics challenges is obtaining a detailed understanding of the nucleosynthesis processes of the elements. Knowledge about the stellar sites, and how they are governed by stellar evolution and cosmology are crucial in understanding the overall picture.

Photoreactions in nuclear astrophysics

Nuclear Physics A, 2003
Cross sections and reaction rates of (gamma,n) reactions have been measured close above threshold with the photoactivation technique. The experimental data for W-186,Pt-190,Pt-192,Pt-198, Hg-196,Hg-198,Hg-204, Au-197, and Pb-204 show good agreement with theoretical predictions.

Nuclear structure aspects in nuclear astrophysics

Progress in Particle and Nuclear Physics, 2005
Abstract Nuclear Astrophysics as a broad and diverse field of study can be viewed as a magnifier of the impact of microscopic processes on the evolution of macroscopic events. One of the primary goals in Nuclear Astrophysics is the understanding of the nucleosynthesis processes that take place in the cosmos and the simulation of the correlated ...
