NUCLEAR CHEMISTRY

1980
Publisher Summary This chapter describes the forces within the nucleus, the conditions under which a nucleus becomes unstable and radioactive, and the relationship of nuclear stability to the abundance of the elements. It discusses the types of nuclear changes, such as α, s, and γ decay, of natural radioactive elements.

Chemistry of lens nuclear sclerosis

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1969
Abstract Two forms of insoluble protein have been isolated from the rat lens based upon their solubility in 7M urea. The urea soluble form, found mainly in the cortex of the lens, contains nearly equal levels of alpha and gamma crystallins, and appears to be associated by hydrogen and hydrophobic bonds.

Nuclear Quantum Effects Largely Influence Molecular Dissociation and Proton Transfer in Liquid Water under an Electric Field.

Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2020
Proton transfer in liquid water controls acid-base chemistry, crucial enzyme reactions, and the functioning of fuel cells. Externally applied static electric fields in water are capable of dissociating molecules and transferring protons across the H-bond
