Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Effects of Symmetry Energy in the Reaction 40Ca+124Sn at 140 MeV/nucleon

open access: yes, 2012
The density-dependent symmetry energy is a hot topic in nuclear physics. Many laboratories over the world are planning to perform related experiments to probe the symmetry energy.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Design, Experiment, and Commissioning of the Spent Fuel Conveying and Loading System of HTR-PM

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, 2022
The Chinese high-temperature gas-cooled reactor pebble-bed module, HTR-PM, began fuel loading in August 2021. The reactor refuels continuously, while the spent fuel is discharged from the core.

Ionization Yield from Nuclear Recoils in Liquid-Xenon Dark Matter Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The ionization yield in the two-phase liquid xenon dark-matter detector has been studied in keV nuclear-recoil energy region. The newly-obtained nuclear quenching as well as the recently-measured average energy required to produce an electron-ion pair ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Economics of nuclear energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
While few people now believe that nuclear power would provide ‘power too cheap to meter’, there is still a common perception that nuclear power is a cheap source of electricity.

Nucleosynthesis in Advective Accretion Disk around Compact Object

open access: yes, 2001
We study the nucleosynthesis in accretion disk around compact object. When matter falls towards the compact object, due to interactions in nuclear species nuclear energy is released in the high temperature.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Direct determination of aluminum in low-enriched UAlx targets (UAlx-Al) by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences, 2021
The production of molybdenum-99 (99Mo) using low-enriched uranium targets (< 20% 235U) dispersed in aluminum (UAlx) is a very promising strategy towards the independence in 99Mo local production.
